Pick up - hard sales pitches to try to get upgraded coverage Drop off - took 90 minutes and nearly missed my flight. Was charged for a missing hubcap when the car was missing 2/4 to start and was returned with only 1/4. I only drove a half tank total and have never lost a hub cap in my life. It took 60 minutes before they even got to inspecting the vehicle and another 30 for inspection and damage claim. The hub caps were clearly either put on poorly or did not fit the vehicle properly given the other missing ones.

Europcar is very challenging to deal with. They try to add many insurances and it is hard to know what is actually included.

Pick up and drop off we’re both stressful. They seemed to be very understaffed. They also tried to trick us into buying their insurance even though everything I read said it wasn’t legal and that if we had coverage elsewhere that would work. At drop off there was no one to help us and a long line of people waiting to return their cars.

Thieves. You should not be allowing them on your site. I knew a car rental wouldn’t be $15 like your advertisement but the dealer said it was about $100/day. Rushed me to sign off on “just a basic agreement “. Said gas was included (didn’t want that, too late) and I could return it empty. Reading contract for return, it said gas would be charged if I didn’t fill it up (I had to) and the price became $1,500+ for 9 days. Thieves! Thieves! Thieves!

This was one of the worst car rental places I’ve ever been to. Be aware that Mexican law requires you to have personal liability insurance. This is why the rental rates themselves appear so low but then when you arrive you are forced to take out an expensive insurance policy. In our case a five day rental was $60 but the insurance was over $300. Even though we have car insurance provided by our credit card, this was limited to CDW so we were forced to buy the rental Companies insurance policy. While this is not unique to Europcar the attitude of the staff was not friendly. Everyone in the agency was fighting the same fight. The return process can also be very slow. In our case there were not enough staff processing car returns so it took over 30 mins.
